The Girl Who...

As I prepare to leave for my weekend on the banks of the Mississippi, some book talk. Listen up, anyone who likes mysteries:

Two words: Stieg Larsson. This Swedish author completed three books in a mystery series before his untimely death in 2004. Two have been published so far, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and The Girl who Played with Fire and they are both entertaining, absorbing reads. Both have plots that don't unwind exactly as you expect they might--they aren't formulaic.

A lot of the offbeat atmosphere of these books rests on the thin tattooed shoulders of the main female character, a young computer expert named Lisbeth Salander. She's gifted but maddening--a unique personage, and though her approach to life may rely on a fair amount of situational ethics, you will be 100% in her corner. Lisbeth also has some secrets...

The Swedish setting adds to the appeal. Give these two books a try--I'm betting you'll be at the edge of your seat.

This is a great read! Loved all three. Once you start.... The sad part is there is actually a 4th book unpublished. Lets hope they will sort out the legal issues with that.
